Klassisk Haute Route, Chamonix - Zermatt
 

Dag for dag

Day 0 : Night in Chamonix. Hotel Mercure***. Halfboard
Briefing and gear check with your guide at the hotel at 6.30 pm.

Day 1 : Argentière hut
From the top station of Les Grands Montets cable car, descend from Rognons glacier onto Argentière glacier. We'll head to the col du Tour Noir (3535 m), a beautiful ascend facing the impressives north face of the Argentière bassin. It will be a good opportunity to rehearse our skills in the different ranges. From the col, ski down onto the Argentière Hut, where we'll spend the night.

Daily altitude range covered: +1001m/ -1600m.

Day 2 : Relais d'Arpette
We climb the Chardonnet pass (3323 m) then descend onto the Saleina glacier on whose short couloir we will probably have to use ropes and crampons. Re-ascent to the window of the Saleina and traverse the Trient glacier and the col des Ecandies 2796 m. It's a beautiful run through the val d'Arpette which is waiting for us before reaching the relays d'Arpette for a conformable night and shower.

Daily altitude range covered: +1001m/ -1600m .

Day 3 : Prafleuri hut
Early descent onto Ecandy pass (2796 m), then onto the village of Champex (1480 m) by the Val dʼArpette, a small, untouched valley and one of the most beautiful escents of the program! Then by bus or taxi to Chable at around 8 am where we take a lift to the Gentianes pass (2903m). Ascent of the Rosablanche (3336 m) to savour the view of the surrounding peaks before descent to the Prafleuri hut (2624 m).

Daily altitude range covered: -1672m.

Day 4 : Dix hut
A 6 am departure to cross the little col des Roux followed by a long traverse above Dix Lake which we flank until the Pas du Chat. We re-skin up before ascending up to the Dix hut (2928m) opposite the imposing north face of the Mt Blanc de Cheilon.

Daily altitude range covered: +730m/ - 430m.

Day 5 : Vignettes hut
Climb to Serpentine pass (3423m) probably with crampons (depending on snow conditions), then the Brenay pass (3639 m) and finishing off with the Pigne d'Arolla (3796m). Scenic vue from Mont Blanc to the Cervin. Descent to Vignettes hut between the seracs of the glacier.

Daily altitude range covered: +868 m/ -602 m.

Day 6 : Bertol hut
Descent onto Mont Collon glacier which we then reascend up to the Evêque pass (3392m) dominated by the tips of the Evêque and the Cardinal – an impressive glacial immensity. Traverse of the col Collon and superb descent on Arolla glacier to Plan de Bertol (2615m). Climb 800m to the Bertol refuge (3311m) perched on a rocky spur facing the Dent Blanche and Cervin.

Daily altitude range covered: + 1100m / - 852m.

Day 7 : Zermatt
Crossing of the Mont Miné glacier to climb Tête Blanche (3724m). We are in front of the Cervin pyramid, one of the most historic peaks in the Alps. Herens pass (3462m) hen final descent to Zermatt via wellknown Stockji and Zmutt glaciers. Taxi back to Chamonix. Diner and night in your hotel.

Day 8 :
Breakfast and end of our services

 

Monte Rosa option in 2 days, only for departure 25th of april and 2nd of may.
This is the best opportunity to succed the second highest mountain in the alps. You are well acclimatized, after 6 days between Chamonix and Zermatt, and after a good night in Zermatt , youʼll be ready for this challenge.

Day 7 : Zermatt
After the final descend to Zermatt, you will sleep in a hotel in Zermatt.

Day 8 : Off piste to Schwarztor pass
From Zermatt weʼll take the Klein Matterhorn cable car to 3875m. Weʼll skin up the 300m to reach the top of the Breithorn, at 4164 m. Where weʼll traverse then at the bottom of the mountain to reach the Schwarztor pass at 3785 m. It is then one of the most beautiful high mountain off pist of the alps down to the Gorner glacier. Then we skin up to the Monte Rosa Hut, at the bottom of the Dufour Spitze. Night in the refuge Monte Rosa Hutte at 2795 m.

Day 9 : Dufour Spitz 4635 m
We start early in the morning around 4 pm to skin up the slopes right behind the refuge. After one hour, we enter the Monte Rosa glacier to get to the bottom of the final ridge, « The Sattle » 4359 m. From that point we leave our ski to put our crampons on to climb the snow then rocky ridge. It will take about 2 hours to get to the top of Dufour Spitze at 4634 m, the second highest point of the alps. We then decend the same way to our ski. From there Itʼs more than 2200 m downhill waiting for us, in a fantastique scenery all the way down to Zermatt. After a well deserved beere, we take the taxi back to Chamonix. Night in your hotel. End of our services.

Mont Blanc option in 2 days, only for departure begining 10th April and after
This is the best opportunity to succed the highest mountain in the alps. You are well acclimatized, after 6 days
between Chamonix and Zermatt, and after a good night in Chamonix , youʼll be ready for this challenge if you are
already experienced in high mountain climbing courses.

Day 8 : Rest day
Diner and night in your hotel in Chamonix

Day 9 : Grands Mulets hut
We will take Aiguille du midi lift and stop in « Plan de lʼAiguille » (2310 m). We will cross Pelerinʼs glacier to reach Grands mulets hut (3057 m). Very nice day.

Day 10 : Mont Blanc 4807 m
We start early in the morning to skin up the slopes right behind the refuge to join the bottom of north ridge of Dôme du Gouter. We will go up with skis fixed on the pack pack and with our crampons. Short part wih slpoe around 35/40°. We reach the summit of Dôme du Gouter (4300m), then follow the « bump ridge » where we will have to carry on our ski on the final part. You will enjoy the incredible landscape. You can see every summit from the south of France to Switzerland and Italia ! And then starts the most incdrible descent youʼve nerver done. If snow conditions are good itʼs more than 3500m downhill waiting for us, in a fantastique scenery! If there isnʼt enought snow, we will stop in « Plan de lʼAiguille » to take the cable car to Chamonix.
